Emily S. Merckle
Trust. Creativity. Results. Emily S. Merckle dedicates her practice to guiding families through difficult times. Emily has handled hundreds of cases and effectively tried many at the district court level. She has also successfully taken and opposed writ applications to both the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeal and the Louisiana Supreme Court. Emily focuses primarily on family law matters and civil litigation.
Emily joined the Gatti Law Firm in 2014 and made partner in 2016. After being admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in 2013, she worked as a law clerk at the First Judicial District Court in Caddo Parish for the Honorable Robert P. Waddell, the Honorable Eugene W. Bryson, and the Honorable Roy L. Brun. Emily also served an internship for the Honorable Scott Crichton and the Honorable Jeanette Garrett.
Emily is a 2005 graduate of C.E. Byrd High School and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana State University-Baton Rouge, where she studied English and French, and graduated magna cum laude. While attending LSU, Emily was a Merit Scholar, a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and an active member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, serving as an officer for three years and voted Most Outstanding New Member. After graduating from LSU, she took a position with the Washington, D.C. French Embassy, teaching English to children in Avignon, France for nine months. In 2013, Emily received her law degree from Mississippi College School of Law and graduated magna cum laude.
Emily is a 2016 inductee to the Harry V. Booth-Judge Henry A. Politz American Inn of Court, a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Shreveport Bar Association-Young Lawyers’ Division, the Bossier Parish Bar Association, and the Louisiana Association of Justice (Louisiana Trial Lawyers Division).
Outside of the legal community, Emily is a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Shreveport. She is a member of the Krewe of Justinian and recently served as Duchess XXII. Emily is also an active member of the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier, the Cotillion Club, the Robinson Film Center, and she serves as President-Elect for the Shreveport-Bossier Tri Delta Alumnae Association. Emily married Chris Merckle in April of 2016, and the couple resides in Shreveport.
